Curiosità sul Beacon of Light

- Il Beacon of Light adesso trasferisce tutto l'healing (effective + overheal) e stacka.
- Il Sacred Shield non stacka più.
- Leggermente ridotto il bonus a intellect.
- Incrementati tutti i contributi MP5 degli item.
Stats
INT > MP5 > SP > HAS > CRIT
- Tenete con voi flask MP5 (Flask of Pure Mojo) oppure le flask +65 INT (Flask of Distilled Wisdom).

- Blessing of Kings, Wisdom, Might : buff di lunga durata (10-30 minuti)
- Hand of Salvation, Hand of Sacrifice, Hand of Freedom : buff di corta durata (10 secondi)
- Seal of Light, Seal of Wisdom : buff personale
- Judgement of Light, Judgement of Wisdom : spell di danno con effetti secondari
- Flash of Light, Holy Light, Holy Shock, Lay on Hands : spell di cura diretti
- Divine Illumination, Divine Favor, Avenging Wrath : modificatori agli spell
- Beacon of Light, Glyph of Holy Light : spell di cura indiretti
- Divine Shield, Hand of Protection, Sacred Shield : spell di mitigazione del danno
- Divine Plea, Arcane Torrent (bloodelf) : spell di recupero mana
Blessing e Hand

We are going to hotfix the nerfs to Judgement of the Wise (from 33% to 15%) and Seal and Judgement of Command (down 20% damage) to live. We need to start getting more testing on these changes right away to see what they do to Retribution in PvE and PvP. We still intend to lower the damage of other Seals and Judgements (except one - see below), but to hotfix those requires touching a lot more data so we think that change can wait for the 3.0.3 patch on live.
We are also hotfixing the beta to return Seal and Judgement of Blood and the Martyr back up to 95% of where the used to be. Live will just never get the nerf to these abilities at all. Hopefully this will compensate PvE Retadins for relying less on more expensive AE abilities that risk putting them out of mana.
To summarize:
Live (3.0.2 build) -- Judgement of Wise change, Seal and Judgement of Command change.
Beta (3.0.3 build) -- All nerfs already active, but Blood and Martyr un-nerfed.
Next Live patch (to 3.0.3 build) -- Catches Live up to Beta. I can't give you an estimate for 3.0.3 on Live yet, but it will be before Lich King goes live on Nov 13.
As soon as we're comfortable that we haven't over-nerfed Ret, and a couple of other things, we're going to look at healer dps again to make sure you can solo or throw the occasional damage spell in a group.I nerf ai Seal e Judgement toccano anche il DPS dei pala holy, che come sappiamo era già ampiamente ai minimi termini.
Qua GhostCrawler risponde a domande sparse:
I thought we were supposed to be bursty?
Yes, that's the design. It's also a tough design to nail because if you're too bursty the opponent doesn't even get to respond.
Why did I describe our initial attempts to nerf Ret as surgical?GC ci dice che hanno atteso l'ultimo momento per i nerf pesanti, cercando prima soluzioni leggerissime, perchè i palaretri erano soddisfatti e non volevano dare grosse delusioni, ma così facendo hanno semplicemente posticipato il problema e creato false attese.
Because that's what we tried to do. In retrospect, we were so worried about nerfing Ret too much that we ended up not fixing the problem. We should have done more sweeping changes initially.
Why did we say Ret was fine for so long?
Because we didn't want to have to nerf the spec. Ret players were having fun. We thought and hoped that some well publicized bugs were to blame for the excess damage. As I've said, if I wait to post until we're absolutely 100% certain, you're just not going to get as many posts. Many posters have said they appreciate getting occasional developer communication and insight. But that is going to come with some risk that things are going to change. As I said, I'll caveat it more in the future.
The damage was too high in PvE and PvP. It was too high for some time in beta. We found (or more accurately the players found) a couple of bugs that we hoped were causing the inflation. When we fixed the bugs, unfortunately, Ret damage was still too high. We made the infamous "surgical" attempt to fix Ret's damage, but that ended up not doing as much as we hoped. We then made a second round of larger nerfs that just went on to the beta build.E' opinione comune che il nerf sia dovuto essenzialmente al danno di picco in PvP, mentre GC dice che anche in PvE era comunque superiore al normale.
Since then, what we're finding is that Ret's dps seems okay on PvE but only if they use a lot of expensive AE spells like Consecration and Holy Wrath even against single targets in long fights (e.g. raid bosses), which in turn causes them to run out of mana too quickly. Players suspect that if they don't use those spells that their dps won't be competitive. That is what we are looking at right now. Buffing Martyr / Blood might be an option since those are more often used in PvE and riskier to use in PvP.
You're nerfing paladins because of PvP.
Read my initial post again. Ret PvE dps was also too high.
That you're somehow paying to beta test the game.
First, I don't really think we'll ever get game balance to a state where 90% of you would say "Yes, it's perfect! Don't touch a thing!" Second, it's an MMO. Things change. The game evolves. We are always going to be changing things on our end as well. Players would be just as happy as not enough changes as some of you are with too many changes.
You may also have noticed that we nerfed level 70 raiding and that the level 80 raids are pretty easy compared to our past instances. We wanted to make sure we weren't shining too harsh a light on balance differences until everyone had plenty of time to get used to the changes -- more time than even our large beta can offer. Nobody should get parked at the curb in Naxx, and by the time Ulduar and later instances come on line, I predict we will have made many balance changes.

Nerf Palaretri TO THE GROUND BABY
Q: Are we going to nerf Ret?
A: TO THE GROUND BABY.
Sorry we didn't get a chance to pre-announce these changes before the data were pushed to the beta. I won't try to sugarcoat it -- these are nerfs.
As I tried to explain before, we concluded a couple of weeks ago that Retribution was doing too much damage in PvP. We tried to nerf the burst damage through the previous changes to Divine Storm etc. Unfortunately, those changes didn't prove sufficient. Not only were paladins still destroying other classes in PvP, but we also found their PvE damage, even at level 80, was too high. Many classes were concluding they were too weak based on comparing their numbers to paladin numbers (and to be fair, hunters and in some cases mages and warriors).
Here are the new changes:Sopra i cambiamenti per i paladini, che con mio sommo dispiacere sono anche a svantaggio dei poveri paladini holy.
1) Judgements of the Wise: Mana gained reduced from 33% to 15% of base mana. We spent many hours arriving at this number. For example, we did a lot of Patchwerk fights, watching the mana bar to see when and if it ever went down. In BGs, we were seeing paladins able to go from target to target without pausing even when unleashing all of their attacks. While we don't want you to go OOM in a few seconds, we don't want you to ignore the mana bar either. Mana is not rage -- warriors can't typically start a battle with a full bar.
2) Judgement of Wisdom: mana gained reduced to 1% of maximum mana and proc frequency cut by 50%. This ability was flat out better than Vampiric Touch when the mana provided between the two really needs to be close in order for the decision between Shadow priest and Retribution paladin to be a real one.
3) Judgement and Seals: Damage reduced by 20%. This is the major damage adjustment -- a lot of damage was coming from these. We do realize this hurts Holy and Protection as well, and that is something for which we are prepared to offer compensation (particularly if it hurts Protection's threat generation).
4) Hammer of Wrath: Now can't be used until the target is below 20% health. Our rule of thumb is that core "Execute-style" abilities work at 20% and talented abilities work at 35% health. We originally had Hammer at 35% based on some other limitations of the spell.
5) Art of War: Increased damage bonus to Judgements, Crusader Strike, and Divine Storm. I'll report back on the exact numbers here when we've settled on them.
I also want to add that the token Blessing of Might change wasn't intended as a joke -- it is designed so that Battle Shouts won't cancel the longer and more expensive Blessing of Might in a group setting.
These seem like pretty severe nerfs, but that was the intention. It is difficult for some players to ever be truly objective with issues surrounding their class, but in this case we felt Ret was severely overpowered. This was not in the realm of small tweaks to fix (though we did try originally). We overhauled the paladin class for Lich King, so it is unfortunate but not too surprising that the numbers for the dps spec require a lot of iteration. The mistake is ours, not the fault of the player base or beta testers.
Nerfing a spec or class is never fun. It means that our initial estimates of numbers were off and we know that the community is going to react negatively (to put it mildly). But we have to try and keep the game in a relatively balanced state and that is going to mean making decisions that are unpopular sometimes. If you need to blame someone for the nerfs, blame me.Dice che i loro numeri (quali????) erano diversi, ed hanno dovuto procedere a nerf non certo divertenti, sapendo che la comunità di paladini la prenderà molto male. Però devono tenere il gioco relativamente bilanciato.
As always, if we over-compensated, we'll adjust the numbers again. But as I said, our initial round of nerfs wasn't sufficient. Lest you fear that Lich King is upon as and you won't see any additional changes, that is not our point of view. We changed a lot in the game and we need to be able to rectify problems. I would expect early patches or even hotfixes to deal with class or balance problems, and hopefully these will slow down as we get closer to major content releases. But nothing is off the table after we ship, down to rearchitecting talent trees if we think that is called for. This isn't to suggest we aren't happy with the state of the game. Rather, my word that we will continue to iterate on problem areas as they come up.Qua dice di non preoccuparsi perchè niente è scolpito nella pietra, ma potrà essere cambiato.
I also want to stress that we do not make balance decisions based on the QQ of other classes. At most, if there is a pretty vocal outcry that will encourage us to rerun the numbers to see if something is amiss. As vocal, and sometimes passionate and even logical as forum posts can be, they represent a fraction of the entire fanbase and it would be foolish for us to clobber one group of players solely based on the whining from another group.
Go ahead and vent if you have to. We won't delete posts or ban posters in this thread unless they are overly offensive. We do ask that you not launch a thousand other threads so that other paladin issues can still be discussed. Likewise, we have no problem with other classes engaging in the discussion but outright gloating or trolling will be frowned upon.

Nerf retribution paladin !!
Emanuele scrive:
Ciao, puoi scrivere qualcosa sui paladini retribution?
Q: Is Ret OP?
A: Perhaps. We think Ret's dps isn't abnormally high in PvE, and may not even be high in PvP over the course of a long fight. Where we are worried is how much damage Ret can do up front. It's also Holy damage, which isn't a big deal when you're considering a fully sundered mob, but can turn into a lot of damage in PvP.
Q: Are we going to nerf Ret?
A: TO THE GROUND BABY. Okay, not really, but sometimes I can't resist. We'll see how much that quote comes back to haunt me. We will probably be making some changes soon, perhaps even hotfixes. We want to be very surgical about what we do. We don't want to overdo it, and we don't want to hurt their sustained PvE damage. When we've decided, I'll make sure you all know.
Q: Why did it take us this long to admit there was a problem when EVERYONE knew about it?
A: A couple of weeks ago there were some bugs with weapon equipping that caused some problems that of course were being exploited. We didn't want to nerf Ret TO THE GROUND BABY only to discover that the weapon problem was causing 90% of it.
GhostCrawler:
As I stated yesterday, we are happy with Ret's PvE damage and sustatined damage in PvP, but were concerned that the burst damage in PvP could be too high. We discussed this for literally hours yesterday, which was certainly not the first time we have discussed the issue. Thus I hope these changes are not perceived as a knee-jerk reaction, but I am sure that will depend a great deal on which class you play. :)
Divine Storm -- the damage was changed from Holy to Physical. As you know, Holy damage is almost never mitigated and this talent could pack a lot into a very short time. This is a nerf to the ability's damage. This change is now active on Live.
Repentence -- this ability now lasts for only 6 seconds in PvP (down from 10). Obviously this is also a nerf. This change is also active on Live.
Art of War -- now affects all damage done by Judgements, Crusader Strike and Divine Storm (instead of critical strike damage). Net dps should be about the same but less bursty. This change will be made before Nov 13.
Righteous Vengeance -- now applies a dot affect similar to Deep Wounds (instead of critical strike damage). This ends up being a significant buff to the ability to make up for the damage lost to Divine Storm, but is also less bursty. This change will be made before Nov 13. This dot will also not break Repentence.
Glyph of Crusader Strike -- now reduces mana cost (instead of increased damage on stunned targets.) We thought paladins could stack too much damage vs. stunned targets. This change will be made before Nov 13.
We also fixed a bug with Seal and Judgement of Light that could sometimes result in too much healing.
Art of War was NOT majorly buffed. The damage should remain the same over time, but fewer gigantic crits. It will be something like +4 / 8% damage (instead of +10 / 20% crit), which should be the same overall assuming a crit rate of around 40%.
Righteous Vengeance was majorly buffed to make up for the Divine Storm nerf. It should end up at something like 10% of the crit damage each tick for 4 ticks of 2 seconds each (+40% and 8 sec total).
In our tests, Retribution dps remains the same over longer periods of time, but they can't do quite so much damage in the initial few seconds of a PvP encounter.
I know Ret pallies feel a little picked on since we've made this mistake before of having them come out the gate too strong and then had to correct them. For that I do apologize. It's a difficult spec to balance since part of its design is to have large crits and stuns, which have obvious PvP implications. We are pretty confident this will not nerf pallies into the ground as I facetiously promised yesterday, but if we overdid it, we'll be happy to back off some of the changes.

Holy on the other hand was and continues to be an amazing healing spec. We didn’t need to make Holy paladins good healers. That was done.

Questi i miei commentiProtection — We want more tanks in the game. Main tanks. We think it’s fun to have a diversity of players and see how different spells, abilities and class mechanics get used to solve problems. A Protadin with the right skill and gear should be able to tank any fight in the game. Previously, we tried to push Prot into the offtank and AE tank roles. While your abilities are still really well suited for AE in particular, overall our philosophy has changed and we want you to be able to do anything the other tanks do. Note that this means other tanks will get better at AE tanking though. Prot represents a special challenge when not tanking because you can both heal and do dps and some players want to do either. Or both. One final comment, that you have already seen, is we want you to gear like a warrior: collect Strengh and Stam and use tanking weapons instead of caster weapons.
Retribution — You’re a melee dps class, and one of only a handful of classes that can fill the “mana battery” role. With the changes to the way raid buffs work, we are blurring the lines a lot more between “pure” dps classes and hybrids that have the potential to respec if their dps doesn’t work out. But we don’t penalize classes for having awesome buffs the way we used to. Also remember that one of Ret’s big limitations before was just getting in the group with the good melee buffs. That problem is solved. If you’re good and know your stuff cold, you should be able to be up there with the rogues and hunters. Maybe not every fight, but not 500 dps below them either.
Holy — You’re still the best high-throughput, single target healer in the game. I suspect you’re still going to get called on to heal the tank a lot. Holy was in a really good place in BC, so much so that other healers (probably priests more than anyone else) began to get overshadowed. To shift things back a little, as well to just challenge the player base, we introduced a lot more fights with AE damage and movement. Unfortunately, those mechanics hit Holy. Hard. At the same time, CoH and CH seemed to be able to handle any encounter. Beacon of Light isn’t a panacea to solve all of those problems, but it is designed to help. It still needs a little work, but I think the basic spell design is sound.
It’s going to be harder to get that feeling for the paladin than it is for the mage, but it is something we want to mess with some more after Lich King.

Protection (46 points)
- Redoubt - Melee and ranged attacks against you now have a 10% chance to increase your block chance by 30%. Aside from being required for Shield Spec, you'll be getting hit a lot as a tank and a lot of the threat you create comes from blocks. This gets better as you tank multiple enemies at once.
- Precision - Increases chance to hit with spells and melee weapons by 3%.
- Guardian's Favor - Reduces the cooldown of BoP by 2 minutes, and increases the duration of BoF by 4 seconds. Sometimes a mob gets loose and goes straight for a healer or other squishy -- this can be used to give you time to re-establish aggro without danger to the squishy (provided that they're not getting spells cast at them).
- Toughness - Increases armor from items by 10%. This one is a toss-up. Some paladins like having this and anticipation, some like one or the other. I like Toughness since my Prot Paladin is already at 490 defense, but your mileage may vary.
- Blessing of Kings - Increases target's stats by 10%. This is one of two Blessings only available to paladins with points in protection.
- Improved Righteous Fury - Reduces damage you take by 6% (while Righteous Fury is active) and increases the amount of threat caused by Righteous Fury by 50%.
- Shield Specialization - Increases the amount of damage absorbed by your block by 30%.
- Spell Warding - A nice passive talent that reduces damage from spells by 4%.
- Blessing of Sanctuary - This is the Blessing I use on my prot Paladin when tanking. Reduces damage from all sources by up to 80, and deals 46 holy damage to the attacker when you block.
- Sacred Duty - Increases stamina by 6%, reduces the cooldown of your Divine Shield by 1 minute, and reduces the attack speed penalty of Divine Shield by 100%. More stamina, reduced cooldown on your bubble, and when using your bubble you swing as normal? Pretty decent talent, I'd say. This can sometimes be used to clear status effects off yourself, but remember to cancel it immediately or whatever your tanking will go for the rest of your group!
- One Handed Weapon Specialization - Increases damage you deal while wielding a 1 handed weapon by 5%. This applies to all damage, not just damage from your weapon, so this is essentially a 5% damage increase.
- Holy Shield - Increases your chance to block by 30% for 10 seconds. Each time you block with this up, the attacker will take 185 holy damage and it will expend 1 of the 4 charges of Holy Shield. This is a great talent for generating threat and mitigating damage, and should be up at all times while tanking.
- Improved Holy Shield - Increases the damage caused by Holy shield by 20%, and also gives you 4 additional charges. With this talent, Holy Shield will have 8 total charges, making it much easier to keep it up constantly.
- Ardent Defender - Reduces the amount of damage you take by 30% when you have less than 35% health. Functions as sort of a low-grade Last Stand that's always on, but this talent can give your healers the time they need to top your health off. Anything that lets you live longer or mitigate damage as a tank is gold, so don't miss this one.
- Combat Expertise - Increases your Expertise by 5 and your total stamina by 10%. The extra stamina is great, but the Expertise lowers the chance your attacks will be dodged or (more importantly) parried by 1.25%. Costs 5 talent points, but is definitely worth it.
- Avenger's Shield - Hurls a shield at the target, causing a bunch of holy damage and dazing the target for 6 seconds. This can also jump to 2 other targets and deal damage/daze if they're close enough. Good for pulling, and great for grabbing a bunch of threat at the beginning of a fight.
Retribution (15 points)
- Benediction - Reduces the mana cost of your Judgement and Seal spells by 15%. If mana is an issue for you, I would take this over Improved BoM, but it's up to you.
- Deflection - Increases your chance to Parry by 5%. This is a 5% mitigation boost, and great for tanking. Well worth picking this up.
- Vindication - It's up to you how to spend these last 5 points, but I like putting 3 of them in Vindication to decrease the target's stats by 15%. It may not work on bosses, but it's pretty good for trash.
- Pursuit of Justice - Again, you can choose to spend these last 5 points somewhere else, but I also like the new Pursuit of Justice talent. The speed increase is nice, but it also gives you a bit of mitigation by reducing the chance you're hit by spells by 2%.
